Love It or Leave It: Designer Face Masks to Match Your Purse

Like it or not, face masks have become a necessary accessory this year. As much as many of us have been trying to avoid masks as a fashion accessory, wearing one has become a requirement in many places around the world, leaving fashion lovers no choice but to make a mask work with their outfit. And, if you live in a big city versus a suburban area where you walk often from place to place, a mask isn’t only something that you simply wear from your car into a store, but rather it’s a real-life security blanket that you need as part of your daily life.

Personally, I’ve been dragging my feet when it comes to the mask game. Partially because when the COVID-19 pandemic began and masks became a reality, I naively hoped that the need for a face covering wouldn’t last long. I simply thought I would power through with a few basic fabric face masks until the need to walk around incognito ceased. Now that it’s become clear that covering our faces in some capacity is here to stay for a while, it’s not surprising that the market for masks is growing, and consumers now have more options than ever.

Recently, news broke that Burberry would be releasing face masks in its iconic Vintage Check. And while they’re not exactly paired with a purse, fans of the iconic British brand could easily match the classic plaid masks to a bag—either one they already own or one of Burberry’s many options.

Here in NYC, since the pandemic began, it’s been commonplace to see people donning imitation designer masks in prints meant to mimic classic Louis Vuitton Monogram or Gucci‘s iconic GG supreme print, but until now, an authentic designer mask has yet to hit the market. With Burberry being the first brand in the luxury space to offer masks, we have to ask: would you wear a designer face mask to match your purse?

Burberry’s face masks are more than just a fashion statement, they give back as well. The brand’s masks will help communities around the globe that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. 20% of sales will be donated to the Burberry Foundation COVID-19 Community Fund, which is operated by The Burberry Foundation. The masks are not yet available but you can learn more via Burberry and sign up to be notified when they become available.
